The New York State Senate today confirmed Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s nomination of Maria T. Vullo as Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS). As Superintendent, Ms. Vullo is responsible for regulating more than 1,500 insurance companies and nearly 1,600 banking and other financial institutions. Ms. Vullo has served as Acting Superintendent since February when she was nominated by Governor Cuomo to lead DFS.

The Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission, today, made a recommendation to the Prime Minister and the Commissioner of the Financial Services Agency that an administrative monetary penalty payment order be issued in regard to insider trading of the shares of GameOn Co., Ltd. (“GameOn”) by an individual investor residing abroad, who is an employee of a tender offeror, pursuant to Article 20(1) of the Act for Establishment of the Financial Services Agency. This recommendation is based on the findings of the investigation into the insider trading, whereby the following violations of laws and ordinances were identified.

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (hereinafter "TSE") has taken disciplinary action (imposition of a JPY 60 million fine) against Credit Suisse Securities (Japan) Limited (hereinafter "the Company") pursuant to the provisions of Rule 34, Paragraph 1 of the Trading Participant Regulations.

âIn the light of the dreadful attack today on Jo Cox MP the Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, will no longer be delivering the planned speech at Mansion House.

The North Carolina Senate Finance Committee met on Tuesday to consider a proposed bill that would, among other things, clarify the state’s regulation of virtual currency and distributed ledger-related businesses. As part of the Committee Meeting, the Chamber of Digital Commerce, IBM and law firm Perkins Coie presented on blockchain technology.

Public comment on the proposed rule should be received by the Commission no later than 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.

The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has concluded Settlement Agreements with Poseidon Concepts senior executives Lyle Dennis Michaluk, Matthew Cory MacKenzie and Clifford Leroy Wiebe in which they admit to breaching Alberta securities laws by filing financial statements that overstated Poseidon Concepts’ revenue and accounts receivable. The men held the positions of Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Poseidon, respectively.
